NBU increased the effectiveness of payment systems oversight

The National Bank increased the effectiveness of the oversight over payment systems.

This is stated in the statement of the regulator.

As noted, the Board of the National Bank on November 25, 2015 adopted the resolution № 815 "On amendments to some regulations of the National Bank of Ukraine."

"The said resolution was adopted to improve the procedure of enforcement in relation to oversight subjects, which are payment organizations of payment systems, their participants and providers of payment infrastructure services. Also, the resolution will promote the monitoring over compliance with the regulations of the NBU," – the statement reads.

In particular, in the event of violation of the NBU regulations containing requirements for suspension of financial transactions by banks, non-bank financial institutions and national post operator, the National Bank will be able to apply a number of enforcement measures to them.

The NBU also will have the right to suspend for up to one year the license of a non-bank financial institution to transfer money in the national currency without opening accounts in the event of violation of the laws of Ukraine on money transfer.

Previously, the NBU had only the right to withdraw or cancel the license of a non-bank financial institution.

The resolution shall enter into force on November 26, 2015.
