NBU banned foreign exchange payments of more than 500 thousand dollars

The National Bank of Ukraine decided to ban foreign exchange payments in the amount of over 500 thousand dollars without a letter of credit confirmed by a foreign bank with investment grade.

This was reported by the head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva on Monday, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.

"It’s time to introduce this new administrative restriction," – she said, reminding about the strengthening of depreciation pressure.

In addition, Gontareva informed of the NBU decision to scrutinize purchase of foreign currency in transactions without import of goods for more than 50 thousand dollars: any prepayment will be checked for correctness and legitimacy.

The head of the National Bank said that the decisions on the restrictions adopted by the central bank would not affect individuals.
