In Transcarpathia, the "official" number of such institutions is 15. The museum stocks contain more than 212,000 exhibits and one in ten of them is in need of restoration.
According to the Department of Statistics in Transcarpathian region, at the end of 2015, in the regional museums, there were 212.3 thousand exhibits of the main stock and 15.1 thousand exhibits of supplementary stock. However, one in ten showpieces of the main stock needs restoration. During the year, only 337 exhibits of the main stock have been restored, which is 7.9% less than that in 2014.
As of the end of the year, the museum staff consisted of 245 employees, including 86 researchers and guides.
Last year, the museums of Transcarpathia were visited by 440.3 thousand people, which is 3.1% more than that in 2014. Schoolchildren, trainees and students account for 44.1% of the total number of visitors.
