Mukachevo officials still want to liquidate Ecocenter

During today’s 74th session of Mukachevo City Council, the deputies took another step to eliminate the Environmental center.

Mukachevo deputies amended the decision №1310 of the previous session changing the names of the institutions which are subject to liquidation. Under this decision, the environmental center, the station of young technicians and the center of tourism, local history, excursions and sports of the education department will be liquidated on June 1, 2015. 

The director of the ecocenter Tetyana Kish commented on the situation:

"We rely on the support of the public, we will appeal to members of the Parliament of Ukraine.  More than 700 children study in our center, there are 37 free groups for kids. Pupils of our center have actively participated in various competitions from the city to the international level, have significant achievements and systematic victories which shows a high level of educational services provided to children. We believe that the government and the public will be able to find a solution to save our center."

To draw attention to the liquidation of the ecocenter, the staff and students of the institution previously held a number of events, an open tour and together with soldiers planted in their park the "Walk of Peace." Also, Mukachevo prosecutor’s office appealed to the court to revoke the decision of the City Council on liquidation of the ecocenter.
