Mukachevo begins preparations for the main holiday (VIDEO)

The holiday of the Day of St. Martin will be held from 9 to 11 of November 2013, on Myr square in Mukachevo. The Mayor Zoltan Landyel signed the relevant order on September 24.And although the event will be held in more than a month, already today they have identified specific measures to help ensure that this year’s festival would be up to the mark.

So, the Day of Saint Martin, which is celebrated on November 11th around the world, falls on Monday. Thus, in Mukachevo, they decided to extend the celebration for 3 days, starting Saturday. It will be the day of the grand opening of the celebration and the beginning of social campaigns in the city designed to help and support needy residents of Mukachevo, the Varosh informed. Sunday will be the culmination of the celebration. The theatrical part of the festival is scheduled on this day. Monday will be the day of worship in the temples of the city.

The highlight of Transcarpathian feast, known throughout Europe, will be children procession with lanterns and the theatrical performance depicting the legend of St. Martin, in particular, the part where he cut off a piece of his coat and gave it to a homeless to keep him warm.

Perhaps, the key innovation of this year’s Day of St. Martin in Mukachevo will be the launch of a record number of sky lanterns right from the central square of the city. A special highlight will be the ritual with a young wine, the delivery of which to the central square will be turned into a costume drama.

In general, the organizers prepared many tourist attractions to prove that their city is the best!

To create an appropriate mood, let’s remember how Martin "arrived" to modern Mukachevo for the first time…
