MPs propose to change the policy of setting tariffs for energy

In the near future, the special working group of the parliament will propose the Verkhovna Rada to approve a bill that will change the policy of setting energy tariffs for individuals.

This was discussed during the press conference of the Deputy Speaker Oksana Syroyid in Zhytomyr, the "UNIAN" writes.

According to her, "the new tariffs for utilities and gas for individuals introduced in April are an extremely large burden for Ukrainians, therefore (a special working group of the Parliament – UNIAN) will propose the Parliament to approve a bill that will change the policy of of setting energy tariffs for individuals."

Syroyid said that the parliamentary working group had already completed the verification of validity of these tariffs.

"The special parliamentary working group on the validity of increase in energy and utility tariffs determined how reasonable these tariffs are. Today, based on the results of this verification, it is established that it is impossible to determine how reasonable these tariffs are because the government has not provided the information that would prove the validity of these tariffs. And, of course, there are reasons to believe that the tariffs can and should be reviewed," – Syroyid said.

As stated at the press conference, in order to avoid new uprise in Ukraine, the said parliamentary working group will soon present a coherent report to the Parliament.

"This report will set out the shortcomings in the formation of tariffs for heating, hot water and gas for individuals and utility companies. Instead, the Parliament will be encouraged to approve a bill that will change the energy tariffs for individuals, it will be a bill without corruption", – Syroyid said.
