Hennadiy Moskal made a working visit to Vynogradiv district to inspect the preparation for the launch of the pilot project "Historical train on the Borzhava narrow-gauge railway".

In the village of Shalanky, he inspected the retro steam locomotive GR-280, that had arrived to Transcarpathia from the city of Haivoron (Kirovohrad region) earlier this week, talked to the crew of drivers, railwaymen and heads of the Vynogradiv, Beregovo and Irshava district state administrations (these districts are involved in the pilot project). As we reported, the locomotive will make the first trip on the Borzhava narrow-gauge next Friday, August 4, at 12:00, from the station "Vynogradiv". The solemn opening of th pilot project will take place at 11:00 on the same day. It is planned that the retro-steam locomotive will be running on the narrow-gauge railroad during August, every Friday and every Saturday. Information about the exact route, timetable, ticket prices, etc. will be reported additionally.

Recall that the pilot project of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine with the support of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, together with partners from Germany and Switzerland was conceived earlier this year. Its main purpose is to popularize Borzhava narrow-gauge railway as a unique tourist object. Steam locomotives of the "GR" series were manufactured in Germany from 1947 to 1956 as reparation to the Soviet Union’s. Today, there are just a few operating GR steam locomotives in Ukraine, one of them is in the city of Haivoron in Kirovohrad region. Several other locomotives of this series are set in different cities as monuments.
