To resolve the situation with the export of wood through Transcarpathian region, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal sent a government telegram to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, the head of the SFS Roman Nasirov, the management of the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine and the heads of Kyiv, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Ternopil and Chernihiv regional state administrations. As referred to in the telegram, today, in the region, there are 182 railway cars with "fuelwood" that were loaded in other regions of Ukraine and are ready for export to the EU. However, inspections revealed that under the guise of firewood, they are trying to export industrial wood to companies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Austria. It was found out that these companies use in their activities only industrial wood, which had been imported from Ukraine before the ban of exports.
Also inspection revealed that many cars loaded with wood in Kyiv, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Chernihiv and Lviv regions are carrying "forest air" for export.
In total, a shortweight of over 1,401 tonnes was revealed during the inspection. If the goods had been cleared and exported, the amount of illegal VAT refunds would have amounted to approximately one million hryvnia. Weighing of the remaining cars continues. The results of the inspections were submitted to the court for the confiscation of the wood in favour of the state.
