More than a million hryvnia from the regional budget was allocated for the purchase of medicines for patients with transplanted organs

During the second plenary meeting of the third session of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, the deputies considered and approved the report of the Department of Health of the Regional State Administration on implementation of the program for provision of patients with transplanted organs with medicines in 2015.

The total cost of the program for the period of its validity is UAH 2 million 302 thousand, including funds of the regional budget for 2015 – UAH 1 million 151 thousand for the purchase of medicines. Last year, at the expense of the Program, UAH 1 million 144.7 thousand worth of medicines was purchased for patients with transplanted organs, namely immunosuppressive drugs tacrolimus, cyclosporine, mofetil acid and mycophenolate mofetil.

This allowed to partially ensure adequate prevention of rejection of organ transplants for patients from Transcarpathia living with transplanted organs: 16 renal transplant recipients (1 child); 10 liver transplant recipients (2 children) and 1 patient with a transplanted heart. 

Thanks to adequate prevention of rejection through continuous immunosuppressive therapy, the survival of patients living with transplanted organs (and survival of organ transplants) in the region last year was 100%.
