Specialists told how the stationary scanning systems work at the customs posts "Tisa" and "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs and whether they are safe for citizens.
– The scanners were installed by the company Nooktech Company Limited. They allow to reduce the total time of customs control and to avoid long, costly operations for unloading and inspection of vehicles, – the chief of the customs control technical support department Serhiy Andronenkov says. He also assures that the radioactive level is always mild, as evidenced by the permanently turned on dosimeter. The X-ray inspection of trucks takes only a few minutes. Then come the most important step – the analysis of images. The modern scanner has unique capabilities for accurate recognition of objects hidden from customs control.
The scanning system can check several hundred vehicles in one day. In two months, more than 16,000 trucks and buses have been inspected with the scanning system, 10,000 of them have been checked at the customs post "Tisa".
