More than 11,000 packs of cigarettes prepared to be smuggled into the EU were found in Transcarpathia

Investigative activities were carried out within the criminal proceedings opened earlier over a crime under by Part 1 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal storage of excisable goods for subsequent sale).
 

As a result of the search, they found and seized 11,070 packs of cigarettes of various brands that were in illegal circulation. The estimated cost of the goods is about UAH 400,000. It was established that the cigarettes were going to be smuggled across the state border of Ukraine.
Under the procedural control of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office, operatives of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment together with the Investigative Department of the State Fiscal Service in Transcarpathian region and border guards conducted an authorized search of the warehouses of one of the shopping malls in Beregovo.

Investigative activities within the criminal proceedings continue. The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office continues to provide procedural control during the pre-trial investigation, the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
