Today, Apri 20, at the checkpoint "Luzhanka" on the border with Hungary, officers of the Transcarpathian customs prevented an attempt of illegal transportation of a large batch of tobacco products from Ukraine, the SFS in Transcarpathian region informs.
The attention of customs officials, representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine and border guards was drawn to a van "Mercedes Vito" with Belarusian diplomatic plates. Inside the van, there was a man who was carrying a diplomatic passport Mongolia and a letter stating that he was carrying a diplomatic pouch.
During the customs control of the citizen of Mongolia, a sniffer dog gave a signal, after which the man became visibly nervous and refused to provide his vehicle for a visual inspection claiming that he was carrying a diplomatic pouch, and according to the Convention is not subject to control.
After long negotiations, the citizen finally agreed to provide access to the cargo. During the inspection the suspicions of customs officers were confirmed – the minibus was packed with cigarettes with excise stamps.
Currently, the registration of the customs offense is being carried out.
