Military tourism as a way to avoid lustration

In Transcarpathia, 7 prosecutors, 2 police officers and 3 tax officers are subject to lustration.

According to the Law of Ukraine "On lustration of power", 10 people in Transcarpathia have been removed from their posts. Among them, there are two police officers – the head of the logistics department Ivan Baran and the chief of staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region Victor Turyanytsya.

Despite this "arithmetic" and restrained optimism about the possibility of legitimate lustration of power, there are still "loopholes" for unscrupulous officials to keep their jobs. The thing is that the law on lustration has two loopholes that the officials of the Yanukovych regime can use to stay in office. Firstly, the law allows those, who quit their jobs by February 22, 2014, to work. Secondly, it provides amnesty for those who have the status of combatants in the ATO area.

As Zakarpattya online previously wrote, for this purpose, smart "dealers" arrange for some short-term "tourist" trips to the ATO area staying far from the combat zone.
