Police officers detained two men, who had committed a theft from the apartment of a Mukachevo resident. They sold most of the stolen goods to pawnshops, and threw the rest into the Latorytsya river to get rid of the evidence
A local resident filed to the Mukachevo police a statement about the theft from her apartment. The 35-year-old woman reported that two TV sets, two mobile phones and iPads, a camera, gold and jewelry had been stolen from her appartment. The total amount of damages is more than 40,000 UAH.
Officers of the criminal police identified the perpetrators of the theft. They were two residents of Mukachevo aged 28 and 29, the younger one has a criminal record for the theft of property. He is a neighbor of the victim.
The men immediately sold most of the stolen goods and shared the money.
"The points of sale of the stolen phones and gold jewelry have already been established, – the Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Sector Yaroslav Martin said. – The thieves sold both phones to the pawnshop for 2300 hryvnia, and sold one TV set on the way to the pawnshop to a taxi driver for 2500 hryvnia, they also sold the monitor to their friends, and threw into the river iPads, that were encoded, and a broken TV set."
Currently, law enforcement officers are taking measures to seize the stolen goods from pawnshops and to notify both men that they are suspected of a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and imposition of a pretrial retsraint against them. The investigation continues.
