Over the past week, 29 new cases of measles were registered in the region. This is 21 percent more than that in the previous period. According to the head of the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance and Prevention of Infectious Diseases of the Transcarpathian Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Victoria Tymchyk, children under 17 years old make up 72% (21 cases) and adults – 28% (8 cases). Almost two thirds (70%) are not vaccinated persons (19 out of 29 patients). During the week, 1140 people (including 140 adults) were vaccinated against measles.
Measles was registered in 11 administrative territories of the region. 6 cases were found in Mukachevo district, 5 cases in Perechyn district, 4 cases in Khust and Vynogradiv districts, 3 cases in the city of Uzhgorod.
Since the beginning of 2019, 2,247 cases of measles have been registered in the region. 1,412 patients are children under 17 years old (63%) and 835 are adults (37%).
