Lutkovska: for business protection, constitutional changes are necessary

Ukrainian businessmen rarely turn to the Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights for the protection of their rights. In this regard, it is difficult to judge about the necessity of the position of the business ombudsman, says Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights V. Lutkovska, as reported by UKRINFORM. This comment was instigated by the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Social Policy Serhiy Tihipko to create in Ukraine an institute of business ombudsman to protect businesses during inspections.

V. Lutkovska says that entrepreneurs, like all citizens have the opportunity to turn to the ombudsman for the protection of their rights. In addition, the creation of new positions requires the necessary changes to the Constitution as the right of entrepreneurship is constitutional, said the Commissioner for Human Rights.

Note: the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Social Policy S.Tihipko on September 18 reported that the government plans to create an institution of business ombudsman to protect the rights and interests of businesses before regulatory and supervisory authorities. Similar functions, as suggested by the bill, prepared and approved by the Cabinet, may be assigned to the State Service for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship Development.
