“Love Stories” were performed in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

It’s spring, and love is in the air… Melodies of love were also heard in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic – the Symphony Orchestra played "Love Stories."

The host of the concert was music critic Natalia Pitsur, and the conductor of the orchestra was Victoria Svalyavchyk-Tsanko.

They performed the immortal story of two lovers of Verona – Tchaikovsky’s overture-fantasy "Romeo and Juliet". Part of the Sicilian adventure in Pietro Mascagni’s symphonic intermezzo "Cavalleria Rusticana", Felix Mendelssohn’s overture "Midsummer Night’s Dream" (based on the play by Shakespeare), orchestral introduction to the opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi (based on the novel "La Dame aux Camelias" ). Also they played the unmatched love story of Orpheus and Eurydice in the interpretation of Jacques Offenbach. The audience listened to the overture to the operetta "Orpheus in Hell" especially closely, waiting to hear the famous tune of "cancan."

The audience warmly received a talented singer, winner of international competitions, a wonderful soprano Mariana Havrylko-Lazur. She sang arias of Lionora ("Give peace and tranquility, my God") and Violetta (sempre libera) from the opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi with a special charm.

And, of course, no love-themed concert can be without the famous march of Mendelssohn, which is played at wedding ceremonies all over the world.

On this bright and lofty note, "Love Stories" came to an end with the applause of the audience. However, the Philharmonic promise – it’s not the end. There will be a lot of interesting music events, of which, fortunately, there is no shortage… If only there were bigger crowds…
