Last week, the project "Local History" was presented in the "Ilko Gallery". The founder of the project is Taras Choliy from Lviv, and it is being implemented by the "Ukrainian Galician Assembly". Moderator of the meeting was the head of Transcarpathian "Plast" branch Andriy Rebryk.
The project started in 2013, and since then a team of young people has been researching the past through the history of individual regions, towns and villages. The researchers have already explored 2 thousand settlements, recorded 5 thousand interviews and scanned 20 thousand photos.
The publication of the journal "Local History" became a unique addition to the project (5 issues have already been published). Its editor-in-chief, Vitaly Lyaska, added that, unfortunately, there are few historical publications in Ukraine. So they decided to fill this niche. "Local History" is a high-quality publication about the past and present, created by professional historians and journalists.
The latest issue of the journal is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the proclamation of Carpatho-Ukraine and Transcarpathia in general. Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, who attended the event, noted that the history of Ukraine is made up of the history of its people. By the way, she is the granddaughter of Dmytro Klympush, the Chief Commandant of the Carpathian Sich. Although she has never seen her grandfather, she knows everything about him and the fate of his brothers. She told about that on the pages of the journal.
It also contains the study by a Transcarpathian, and now the well-known young historian of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Oleksandr Pahirya about the preconditions and the phenomenon of the CU. Oleksandr, together with the director of the mentioned Institute, researcher of the liberation movement Volodymyr Vyatrovich, organized a photo-documentary exhibition on Carpatho-Ukraine on Khreshchatyk in Kyiv.
The event finished in the museum-cafe "Snack", where the screening of the film "Silver Land. The Chronicle of the Carpathian Ukraine 1938-1939" took place. It is the only modern documentary about those historical events.
