Local authorities shall be responsible for the safety of our children on rides

More than 20 violations of regulations were found this year by representatives of the State Committee of Ukraine for Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Mining Control during the inspection of entities engaged in operation of amusement rides in Transcarpathian region. This was reported in an interview to the "Zakarpatska pravda" by the head of the regional department of the State Committee of Ukraine for Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Mining Control in Transcarpathian district Mykhailo Savarin.

In particular, during the inspection in Mukachevo they found out that the rides were operated without having undergone routine examination. As a result, the operation of seven rides was banned. 

Many problems, the official said, arise with mobile rides. Many of them are caused by the decision to classify the entities that operate the rides as those of a slight degree of risk.  The number of inspections of such entities by the State Committee of Ukraine for Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Mining Control has been reduced to once every five years, and the main burden for supervision over safe operation of amusement rides lies, in accordance with Article 34 of the Law of Ukraine "On Labour Protection", on local authorities. They, according to the instruction of the Governor, had to check the readiness of the entities to safe operation of rides during the spring and summer and submit to the territorial office of the State Committee of Ukraine for Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Mining Control in Transcarpathian region the information about decisions on the allocation of land plots for deployment of rides. However, currently, the system of prompt informing has not yet been fully developed.

For your information: In Transcarpathia there are 26 businesses that have permits to operate 149 rides (including 125 mobile ones). Today, the vast majority of rides (about 90 percent) operate outside of our region, mainly in the south of Ukraine.
In Transcarpathia there are three stationary rides – in Uzhgorod (Bozdosh Park), Mukachevo (PE Marynets I.I.) and in the village of Pyiterfolvo in Vynogradsv district (PE Illeysh V.F.) Also, entrepreneurs Laver R.V., Porohnavets O.I. and Breno I.O. operate mobile amusement rides in the region.
