On the last day of October, the Governor Oleksandr Ledyda issued a decree "On a regional commission for detailed study of complex issues and the causes of the situation related to the breach of security zones and restricted areas near the land of the Transcarpathian regional utility "Uzhgorod International Airport."
In February 2009, the then Uzhgorod Mayor Serhiy Ratushniak and the City Council started the distribution of land near the airfield. A month later, "Uzhgorod" airport management accused Ratushniak of intent to close the only airfield in our region. This is how they viewed the decision of the city council which permitted construction in areas adjacent to the airfield – near the runway, above the high-voltage cables, near the warehouse, which the fuel is stored, and in the area of radar systems. Then, the Regional commission on technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies banned the distribution of land near the "Uzhgorod" airport.
Four years later, the situation of the construction on the lands near the airport will be studied by the commission, chaired by the first deputy governor Igor Svyshcho. The deputy head of urban planning and architecture department of the RSA Olena Strychyk appointed was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Commission. By the way, in 2009, she worked as the chief architect of the city. The Commission also includes the airport director Volodymyr Horynetsky, the deputy mayor of Uzhgorod Yuriy Belyakov and others.
