On Tuesday, May 26, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal and the Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko met with the representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate – Bishop of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia Varsonofy.
The Bishop came to the leaders of the region with an honorable mission – on behalf of Patriarch Filaret, to present the award which was established by the Church and which is entitled "For the sacrifice and love for Ukraine."
The Bishop said: This award is given to people who prove their love for the state with their deeds, help the army, support participants of the ATO and their families, care about the community. "And the diocese could not but to note your role in this, your work, so I give you the award and wish to continue to work for the good of the region and the country. I believe that you will do more – with God’s support!"
Then, the Bishop presented the award "For the sacrifice and love for Ukraine" to Vasyl Hubal and Volodymyr Chubirko. The head of the Regional State Administration, talking to the bishop Varsonofy, said: "In my opinion, every denomination, every church community in the region should develop. We respect everyone and we are happy that we preserve harmony in our multi-national and multi-denominational region. I believe that your church should have temples and take care of the flock too. And I wish you success in this and your parishioners – true faith and God’s blessing." "Pray for Ukraine and Transcarpathia", – Vasyl Hubal said.
After that, the Bishop of the Orthodox Church and the head of Regional State Administration and the Chairman of the Regional Council talked about the situation in the region, the existing problems, support for combatants and their families, as well as situation in church communities, and so on.
