In the village of Styuzhytsia, Velyky Berezny district, illegal felling of 96 trees was detected. Velyky Berezny police have began investigating this fact and are looking for the people who cut down the trees.
A local resident, assistant to the people’s deputy of Ukraine, appealed to the police of Velyky Berezny. He reported that, together with journalists from the central television channel, he had detected illegal felling of trees in the forest near the village of Stuzhytsia.
The investigative team arrived at the scene. The police officers found in the "Sokoliv" tract, which is located near Stuzhytsia, 96 stumps of cut beech, hornbeam, birch trees of various diameters. There were about 20 cubic meters of cut tree trunks nearby.
The police initiated the investigation over the incident, the actions of the unknown persons have signs of a criminal offense stipulated in Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal felling of trees). They are being searched by law enforcement officers.
