Ksenia Fuchs’s debut novel “Beyond the Sun” will be presented in Uzhgorod

On Tuesday, September 24 at 13:00, Ksenia Fuchs’s debut novel "Beyond the Sun" will be presented in the Transcarpathian Regional Scientific Library.

At the presentation of her debut novel "Beyond the Sun" (Tempora Publishing House) at the Kyiv Arsenal on May 25, 2019, young Ukrainian writer Ksenia Fuchs said that the topic of mental health was avoided in Ukraine, and that is why it is important to start openly talk about it in Ukrainian society.

The central theme of Ksenia’s debut novel is the view of people with psychological illnesses in the society and the self-identification of patients in psychiatric hospitals. The main character and narrator of the book "Beyond the Sun" gets admitted to the psychiatric ward of one of the German clinics. The heroine struggles with depression, which took away all her strength to work, to love, to meet friends; the protagonist does not want to eat, read, go outside, get out of bed, or even live. The clinic is her last hope of salvation. Her long journey of recovery begins when she gets admitted to the hospital. At the clinic, she gets to know other patients, smokes with them on the hospital balcony, and has conversations that change her perspective on many things.

The author’s chosen theme and manner of telling the story are absolutely new for the Ukrainian book market and therefore aroused great interest of readers, keen discussion at the Book Arsenal and gratitude from many who confessed that they were struggling with depression, but were afraid to tell their loved ones.
