Korbaches clapped at the “Hutsul bryndzya” (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

This year, there was a new attraction at the biggest gastronomic festival of Transcarpathia "Hutsul bryndzya", which took place on September 3 – "Korbach show". And although it lasted only a few minutes, it did cause excitement and ovation.

Firstly, the tool of the show is not widespread in everyday life, especially in cities. Korbach (whip) is used to graze livestock. Secondly, the sound produced by korbach spreads for 1.5 kilometer and is called "clapping". The sound is compared with a peculiar melody of mountains and valleys. Thirdly, there are different kinds of korbach – made of skin, or a special rope. Its length often reaches 2.5 m. It’s attached to the stick, which is a bit larger than a pipe.

There were 7 participants in the show – three adults (Yaroslav Shmilo from Rakhiv, Ivan Tymchak from Velyky Bychkiv and Ivan Varha from Vodytsia village), and four children, the youngest one Vlada Chaban was only 3 years old (by the way, there were two more participants from her family). The spectators determined the winner by applause. It was Ivan Tymchak whose whip clapped in the air without touching the ground.

All participants received gifts. The highlight of the event was a "korbach man" on stilts from Ivano-Frankivsk region Volodymyr Tafiychuk.
