Klimkin on the “diplomatic smuggling”: “Conclusions will be made very quickly”

The Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin assured that "conclusions in the case of cigarette smuggling by a diplomat’s family member will be made quickly," – the UNIAN reported.

"Our position is very clear: not just "zero" tolerance, we will counteract such cases," – the Minister said.

Klimkin stressed that it is necessary to "look in detail how it happened, whether there had been similar attempts before."

"We have to link every detail and we have to find out whether other embassy employees were involved in this," – the head of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said.

Recall that Transcarpathian customs officers seized almost 60 thousand cigarettes from a Ukrainian with a diplomatic passport and a letter from one of the embassies of Ukraine that the vehicle was carrying diplomatic cargo that was not subject to control.

The Foreign Ministry did not mention the name of the detainee, instead they suggested to call him the diplomat "L". However, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal said that contraband cigarettes were smuggled across the border by a resident of Kyiv Serhiy Lischyshyn who is the spouse of the First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia Oksana Lischyshyn.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine have stated that if the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia is involved in cigarette smuggling many people will be affected.
