The inconspicuous obelisk that now is located on Egan square in Uzhgorod (former Karl Marx square) is still decorated with an image of German philosopher Karl Marx. The whole teaching was named after him, and the book "Capital" criticizing capitalism is still read and discussed.
The founder of Marxism-Leninism feels good in a cozy corner of the regional center of Transcarpathia. However, the bed, the obelisk stands on, is a bit untidy, there are some scribbles on the stone foundation, and the image has darkened with time. Probably, Marx managed to last so long because the bas relief is placed too high to reach or maybe for some other reason.
