Juvenile delinquency in Uzhgorod is rapidly increasing

In 2012, juvenile delinquency in Uzhgorod increased by 20% compared with the previous year. This was discussed at the intergovernmental meeting with the participation of the heads of law enforcement and other authorized state bodies, as well as local government officials, reported the press service of the city prosecutor’s office.

Only in 3 months of 2013, in the Unified registry of pre-trial investigations 7 criminal proceedings have been registered, where the offenses were committed by or involved minors.

The prosecutors believe that minors primarily commit thefts for reasons of greed, lack of funds for food or necessities. According to statistics, 19 people, who have children under their quardianship, are serving sentences, and it is not known what environment and conditions the minors are in.

As of now, 53 people, including those having children, are registered in TB clinics with open tuberculosis. Thus, it is necessary to effectively address the issue of temporary removal of children from such families or forced treatment of sick parents.
