It happened on this day – June 15, but 335 years ago – in 1682. The wedding of Princess Ilona Zrinyi and the leader of the rebels (kuruc) Imre Thokoly.
On Saturday, June 17, it will be reenacted in the castle Palanok. The Tourist Information Center of Mukachevo invites to the historical reenactment of the wedding of Ilona Zrinyi and Imre Thokoly!
The wedding of 39-year-old Zrinyi and 25-year-old Thokoly took place in the Palanok on June 15, 1682. During 8 days, guests ate 10 bulls, 36 calves, 20 pigs, 80 sheep, four deers, 10 roes, six wild boars, two does, 8 quintals of fish, 50 quintals of honey and sugar. They drank 130 barrels of red and 150 barrels of white wine, 40 barrels of beer and 25 small barrels of Polish vodka.

11:00-20:00 – crafts, medieval cuisine, archery (middle castle moat)
13:30-17:00 – ancient dance, music, singing, jousting matches (middle castle yard)
13:00-17:00 – demonstration of gunners’ skills and shooting with old guns (eastern bastion)
14:00-16:00 – arrival of the bride and groom, greetings from guests, wedding ceremony (upper castle yard)
We invite you to the medieval wedding to Mukachevo!
In addition to medieval interior, characters, wedding ceremony and entertainment, you will be able to attend a wedding banquet that Mukachevo cooks will try to recreate using the descriptions from historical sources. And, there is a surprise for couples – they will be able to get married at a medieval wedding ceremony in the castle Palanok (after pre-registration).
There will be practical shooting with old guns, demonstration of artisans’ skills and free workshops, traditional dishes of that era, singing, dancing, music of the 15th-17th centuries, jousting matches – this is what visitors will be able to see at the festival in the castle Palanok.
