Athletes from Uzhgorod District Judo Federation took part in the 11th International youth judo competition, that took place at the beginning of this week in Slovenia.
Young athletes Andriy Taran, Lev Smagin, Ivan Pavlyuchok and Serhiy Pyshka were competing in their respective weight categories. Representatives of 30 countries – those are about one thousand judokas – took part in the tournament.
As for the results of the competition, Ivan Pavlyuchok won bronze award, and Lev Smagin took the fifth place. Both of them had six grueling fights.
In addition to the competition in the individual standings, athletes were competing in the team competition. Thus, Lev Smagin was a member of the team International 1, which was made of young judokas from CIS countries.
Currently, Uzhgorod athletes have returned to there hometown and continue the training cycle. They say they are overwhelmed by the trip.
