Human rights advocate Oleg Grigoriev continues a series of photos about the life of the Roma community in Transcarpathia. This time he draws attention to the mentality feature, the key component of which is the ability to enjoy life.
"Once again I caught myself thinking that I envy the ability of the Roma to be happy about simple things in life.
Many people know that for almost 7 years I have been working with Roma in Transcarpathian camps. Few of the "non-Roma" have such unlimited access and can experience the way of life of representatives of the Roma national minority, understand their traditions, way of thinking and behavior. I should say that this is a subjective opinion based solely on my experience.
The fact that never ceases to amaze me is that Roma are like Buddhists – incredibly happy people. Yes, yes, they are much happier than us. Roma have many children and they love them a lot. They have a more stable mindset, they are less tied down to material things, and there is a lot of calmness and joy in their behavior, which residents of cities often lack", – Oleg wrote to the series of fantastic photos.
