Jeep and passenger car ‘got stuck’ at the border because of fake car numbers

Chop customs officers and border guards have recorded two customs legislation’s violations at once with the cars smuggling into Ukraine, preliminary value of which is almost half a million hryvnia on the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

Both citizens of Belarus, returning home from the Slovak Republic in transit through the territory of Ukraine, provided inspectors with registration certificate and authorization for off-road vehicle ‘Toyota Rav4’ and ‘Volkswagen multi-van’ during the customs and border control’s passage at ‘Uzhgorod’ checkpoint. However, customs officials found out that the cars’ numbers were fake, the fact of which was proved by the examination.

Currently, the protocol on customs’ regulations violation was drawn and the cars were removed to the customs warehouse until the court’s decision – said Chop Customs press secretary Viktoriia Sengetovska.
