“It wasn’t me”: the search for the persons responsible for the crane’s fall

Specialists and the general contractor for the construction at Kyivska embankment, 4 in Uzhgorod after yesterday’s incident, when, recall, the boom fell during mounting, today came to the work site and commented on the incident to journalists, the press service of the City Council informs.

Oleksandra Zotova, the head of the State Architecture and Construction Control Department of Uzhgorod City Council, reported that the construction of a multi-apartment residential building with built-in commercial premises at Kyivska embankment, 4 is being carried out in accordance with the permit for construction work, which is registered and filed in the single register open to public. It is the person, that mounted the boom of the tower crane, who is responsible for yesterday’s incident. 

Vitaliy Lyakhovich, the head of the State Labor Department in Transcarpathian region, noted that the works were carried out by an entrepreneur, who had permission to mount tower cranes. However, he does not have permission of the State Labor Department to operate the crane, which is now being mounted. He also noted that currently there are no statutory grounds for conducting an audit.

Mykhailo Hozda, the general contractor for the construction, also commented on the situation. He noted that the installation of a crane boom was carried out yesterday, and it is the contracting organization operating on the site that is responsible for these works. He assured that all necessary documentation is available.
