Istvan Greja’s post title and the area of cooperation with Transcarpathia has changed

Hungary has made concessions and changed the controversial title of the post, which, in the opinion of the Ukrainian party, was contrary to democratic principles, the Channel 24 wrote.

From now on, the post of Hungarian official István Greja will be entitled: "The Minister’s Commissioner responsible for the development of cooperation of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region and Transcarpathian region, as well as for the coordination of the program for the development children’s educational institutions of the Carpathian region."

So, now it is not about working with one region – Trascarpathian, but also with the activity of the Hungarian border region. The responsibilities of the Commissioner now include the work with children’s educational institutions in Transcarpathia.

As you know, this summer, Ukraine expressed protest regarding the introduction of the post of "Minister’s Commissioner for the ddevelopment of Transcarpathia and the program for the development of preschool educational institutions of the Carpathian Basin" in the government of Hungary, which the above mentioned István Greja was appointed to.

Such actions of Hungary were perceived as interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine, as the Commissioner’s competence included part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine. Hungary did it in response to changes to the Ukrainian law on education.

Recall that recently, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin met with the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjarto at the Warsaw Security Forum. During the meeting, representatives of Ukraine and Hungary agreed to hold consultations for the settlement of conflict situations in Budapest.
