On Nezalezhnist embankment, there is a bronze statue of the Carpatho-Ukraine President Augustin Voloshin, which was established in 2003. It was created by sculptor Mykhailo Mikhailyuk. For years, here and there bronze has been covered with something, at first glance, similar to mold.
According to sculptor Bohdan Korzh, the monument is covered with natural patina. "Bronze is fine. A kind of film, that has formed on it, is not going to destroy the material, but rather protect it. It is a natural process and no need to worry about A. Voloshin. However, other monuments maybe in danger. For example, there was an incident in Hust when "experts" painted marble with acrylic, that is a problem. Or when they cut off legs and neck from the monument to artists Y. Bokshai and A. Erdelyi – that is the trouble, and the bronze monument to Augustin Voloshin will stand" – the sculptor reassured.
