Irshava police arrested a poacher, who had shot a deer

Employees of Irshava hunting and fishing husbandry of the UHFA District Council, while inspecting hunting grounds in the village of Maly Rakovets, found traces of blood and the remains of a deer carcass.  

Since the UHFA workers failed to detain the offender at the scene, they appealed to Irshava police. 

Officers of the rapid response and investigative teams arrived at the scene. In the course of operational search activities, the police officers managed to detain the poacher. It was a 25-year-old resident of the village of Maly Rakovets.   

The police officers seized the hunting weapon from the poacher. The weapon was registered. However, the man had no permits for hunting activities in forest lands. 

Irshava Police initiated criminal proceeding over this incident under Art. 248 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal hunting), which provides for punishment by a fine of up to one hundred untaxed minimum incomes, or imprisonment for up to three years with forfeiture of hunting tools and all kill.
