Irshava is for preservation of trees (PHOTOS)

Cutting down trees each year for two holiday weeks is cruel – so they decided in Irshava, therefore back in 2012, an artificial Christmas tree was set up in the city center for the first time.

Then, Irshava became the first city in Transcarpathian region to use artificial Christmas tree. The 13-meter-high Christmas tree was purchased with the support of local businesses. Since then, it has been set up every year.

In addition, in the same 2012, at the expense of the city budget, artificial Christmas trees were purchased for all pre-schools and secondary schools in the city. Thus, at least ten young trees, that would have been cut down every year for kindergartens and schools, remain in the wild. Statistics says that over the past five years, the city saved sixty conifers, the head of the media and public relations department of Irshava City Council Liana Demchik says.

Mukachevo also has an artificial Christmas tree, which is 15 meters high. Cities of Transcarpathia, join the flash mob or decorate those trees that grow in the center of your city. As they do, for example, in Svalyava, where every year one of the two pine trees, that grow in the city center, becomes the main Christmas tree of the city.
