While Mukachevo and Uzhgorod are fighting for the title of the "sakura capital" of Transcarpathia, I want to tell you about Irshava (see the photos). The district center can also claim this status, because the "sakura alley" here stretches along the central road across the city: from the gas station at the entrance to Irshava (from Mukachevo) to the exit from the city towards the village of Brid, and on the other side – towards Bilky.
These trees are only a few years old, but there are also "old-timers" in the city. For example, near the City Hall in the center, or the ones on Shevchenko street.
Sakurization of Irshava started in 2011. Then, 100 trees were planted. Each year, the number of Japanese cherry trees in the city increases. This past year, 115 seedlings were planted before Easter, the Irshava City Council informs. Young trees appeared along Gagarin, Fedorov, Biletska and other streets. In general, over the past few years, 800 sakuras have been planted in the city.
