Investigation into the death of a policewoman from Beregovo continues and has never stopped

As we reported, the family of the policewoman from Beregovo Katerina Karnaukhova demands re-examination and resumption of the investigation. 

Investigators of the specialized department for investigation of crimes against human life and health of the Transcarpathian regional police continue the investigation of the criminal proceeding over the death of the lieutenant of Beregovo police.

In May 2018, Beregovo police officer in unconscious state was delivered to the Beregovo Central District Hospital from the village of Velyka Bakta. Unfortunately, on May 22, the woman died.

The police immediately commenced a criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code (Murder).

At present, the investigation of the high-profile crime continues.

Three forensic examinations have already been carried out involving leading specialists in the field of forensic medicine in Transcarpathia, as well as experienced physicians.

All experts had the same conclusion: the law enforcement officer died as a result of an illness. No signs of violent death were found.

However, to ensure impartial and objective investigation, the investigator initiated an additional forensic examination, which is being carried out by experts of the Main Bureau of Forensic Examination in the city of Kyiv. Currently, law enforcement officers are waiting for the conclusion of this ongoing examination.

The pre-trial investigation in this criminal proceeding has never stopped. All possible causes of the law-enforcement officer death are considered.

The investigation is being conducted openly. The injured party, in particular the father of the deceased and his representative, have access to the materials of the criminal proceeding and all procedural decisions. 

The final decision in the case will be taken only after all the necessary investigative activities have been completed.
