An increase of fees for Internet access, cable television and fixed phone connection is expected in Ukraine.
According to the commission member Igor Sirotenko, the document issued includes the introduction of a new fee, calculated on the value of all telecommunication services in the country, at a rate of 3.5%. These funds will be spent to finance the projects for the development of telephony and Internet access in rural and remote areas, as well as offset the losses from providing communications services by operators for state tariffs. The Fund Manager will be NKRSI, writes "Kommersant-Ukraine."
"Now this 3.5% will not be washed out of the industry, but will be used for its development, said Sirotenko. “The establishment of the fund, in fact, will not be reflected on the cost of mobile communications services. But the prices for other communication services will rise". We are talking about internet access, cable television and fixed telephony.
Mobile operators believe that the reduction in payments to the Pension Fund is a weak spot of the bill and if the parliament and the government do not support a law with such a norm, then the pension fund loses about 1.1 billion UAH per year.
