International Museums Day: what, where, when (PHOTOS)

On May 18, on the occasion of the International Museums Day, the Open Door Day will be held in the Transcarpathian Art Museum in Uzhgorod (Zhupanatska Sq., 3). The celebration will begin at 11.00 in the Y. Bokshay chapel with a solemn liturgy – prayer for all the museums and museum workers of the country and the world. At 4 pm, the concert of the IV year student of Uzhgorod State Musical College Daniela Kovalchyk will begin in the museum (entrance is free).

A new exhibition "Autumn colors in the works of A.Kotska" will be opened in the memorial house-museum of the People’s Artist of Ukraine A. A. Kotska at Vinnychna st., 20 in Uzhgorod. All works are from the museum’s funds. This was reported by the head of the institution Olena Myasishcheva.

Meanwhile, the memorial house-museum of the People’s Artist of Ukraine F. Manaylo at Drugety st., 74 in Uzhgorod will present two mini-exhibitions: monotypes of the artist and traditional household ceramics.

You can also visit the house-museum of the People’s Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Mykyta on Sobranetska street in Uzhgorod. On two floors of the house, 77 artist’s works from different creative periods are presented.

On the same day, on the occasion of the International Museums Day, a craftsmen town will be opened in the Palanok castle in Mukachevo, starting from 10.00. At 10.00, 12.00, 16.00 – free excursions. At 12.00 – entertainment program with the participation of actors of Mukachevo Drama Theater. This was reported by the director of the museum Mykhailo Belekanich. At 14.00, the exhibition of works of art by the classic of Transcarpathian school of painting Anton Kashshay (1921 -1991) and the granddaughter of the artist Olga Kashshay entitled "Infinite Evolution" will be opened in the castle’s gallery.

The exhibition will last for several weeks. At 15.00, the plein air of pupils of the M.Munkachi art school will begin. And in the evening (at 21.00), the premiere of the performance "Prince Fedir Koryatovich" based on the play by Uzhgorod journalist and playwright Oleksandr Havrosh will take place in the castle. On this day, the entrance to the Palanok is free.

Some museums will be celebrating on May 19th. Thus, the Transcarpathian Regional Local Lore Museum (castle) (Kapitulna st., 33) will present two programs – day and night (available at the museum’s website). The day program will begin in the courtyard at 13.00 with the performance "Sleeping Beauty" by the Transcarpathian academic puppet theater "Bavka". At 13:45 and 15:00 – Medieval dances and a master class performed by the House of Historic Dance and Game "Tartak". At 14.25, the performances of students of the Uzhgorod School of Arts (vocal, dance and theater numbers). will begin. At 15.20, 16.20 and 17.20, the Historical Reenactment Club "Order of St. Nicholas" will present their program. At 18.20, there will be the performance by the choreographic team of the center for children and adult creative development "ZIRATI-ZEFIRCHIK", and 10 minutes later – choreographic production "Little Prince" based on the tale by Antoine de Saint-Exupery from the students of Uzhgorod College of Culture and Arts.   

As for the evening program, the castle joined the European Council campaign "European Night in the Museum". In addition to the night-time tours of the museum exhibitions, visitors will be offered a sophisticated concert program.  

On the same day (May 19), the "Night in Uzhgorod Skansen" will take place in the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life at Kapitulna st., 33a. The program, which starts at 12.30, includes the "Skovoroda – Fest", which will take place within the framework of the "SlobodaKult" (until 17.00). 19.00 – 21.00 – "Transcarpathian Wedding" performed by the Honored Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir.  21.00 – 21. 40 – the performance of Kharkiv groups "Farby" and "Muravsky shlyakh".  21.00 – "Transcarpathian Charms" (lecture-excursion on love magic). 21.40 – 22.40 – Show of the traditional folk costumes. 22.40 – performance of the Uzhgorod band "TrystaVisim".
