International Day of People with Disabilities, to attract attention to these people

Today is the International Day of People with Disabilities, which is celebrated to attract attention to these people. Events are taking place in Uzhgorod too.  The medical and social rehabilitation center "Way of Life" invited its children, their parents and teachers.

The city authorities are doing everything possible to make people with disabilities feel comfortable in the city: during the repairs of streets, sidewalks, amenities for people with disabilities are planned at the design stage, all new city transport are modern, low-floor buses for the convenience of passengers on wheelchairs.

This year, more than UAH 1.7 million has been allocated from the city budget for the support of the "Way of Life", next year it is planned to allocate UAH 1.9 million. The city has been helping this organization financially for 19 years now, but only recently has it been possible to increase the funding multiple times. Since February of this year, the inclusive resource center has been operating in Uzhgorod providing corrective support for almost four hundred children with disabilities in the city, and there are 15 inclusive forms in the city schools.

In general, according to the Department of Labor and Social Welfare of the Uzhgorod City Council, there are currently 5789 people with disabilities in the regional center of Transcarpathia, all receiving various kinds of benefits.
