The awarding and closing ceremony of the 17th International Festival of Puppet Theaters "Interlyalka-2011" took place in Uzhgorod.
The festive event brought together the organizers and sponsors, participants and fans of the festival in the hall of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theater.
The professional jury consisted of: theater critic, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Theater-plus" Lyudmila Tomenchuk (Dnipro), playwright, artistic director of the Košice Puppet Theater Ivan Sogel (Košice, Slovakia), People’s Artist of Ukraine, the director of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater Anatoliy Filippov (Uzhgorod), the main director of the Grodno Theater of Puppets Oleg Zhyugzhda (Grodno, Belarus) headed by theater critic, laureate of national and international theatrical and journalistic prizes and contests Alla Podluzhna (the city of Kyiv). The latter announced the winners:
– in the nomination "Best female role" – Natalia Grigorieva, actress of the theater "EastArt" (Mykolaiv) for the role of the Mother in the play "The Story of a Mother" by H.A. Andersen;
– in the nomination "Best male role" – Viktor Gushchin and Ruslan Prokopchuk, actors of the Zhytomyr Academic Regional Puppet Theater (Zhytomyr) for the role in the play "Talkative Khvesya" by N.Paladiy;
– in the nomination "Best visuals" – Natalia Yagupova, scenographer of the play "Straw Bull" by S. Tsypin of Volyn Academic Regional Puppet Theater (Lutsk);
– in the nomination "The best directing" – Oleksandr Kutsyk, director of the play "In our paradise on earth" of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theater (the city of Uzhgorod);
– in the nomination "Grand Prix" – the Košice Puppet Theater (Košice, Slovakia) for the play "About a knight without a horse" by M. Husenovska. By the way, the Slovakian theater won the highest award of the festival for the second time in a row.
15 theater companies took part in this year’s festival – from Ukraine (Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Lutsk, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi), Slovakia (Košice) and even from France (Lyon) and Argentina (Buenos Aires)
