The Government of Hungary, together with the Hungarian Ecumenical Support Fund, delivered insulin to Transcarpathian region. The humanitarian campaign that took place in the presence of the media at the International crossing point "Tisa", was the response to the request of the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal.
– Every year, Transcarpathia needs 32 million hryvnias for the purchase of insulin, but we receive from the state budget only about 22 million, – Hennadiy Moskal said. – In response to the letters regarding a critical insulin deficiency, the Ministry of Health said that the drug should be purchased at the expense of local budgets. But we don’t even have enough to pay wages. Therefore, we had no other choice than to ask Hungary for help. The insulin received today will be evenly distributed throughout the region, it is intended for all Transcarpathians, and not only for the Hungarian community.
Insulin delivered to Transcarpathia is made in France, its total cost is about four million hryvnias. The recipient of the drug was the regional association "Red Cross". Unlike the imported insulin from the state budget, which patients should partially pay for out their own pocket (except for children and pregnant women), the insulin from Hungary will be distributed free of charge.
