In Volovets district, pyrotechnics destroyed 41 mortar shells

On May 24, pyrotechnics of the special purpose rescue squad were called to Volovets district for disposal of explosive devices.

The de-mining works were performed together with officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, that had sent the letter to the rescue service the day before.
On the 724th kilometer of the highway Kyiv-Chop, 41 mortar shells of 82 mm caliber of the Second World War period were found in the ground. The pyrotechnics removed the shells from the soil where they
had been lying for over 70 years. They were transported to the quarry near the village of Perekhresny and destroyed there.

Rescuers appeal to Transcarpathians! If you find any suspicious metal objects similar to explosives, do not touch them, mark the spot, report it to authorities, police or call the rescue service 101.
