In Velyky Berezny district, an 18th century wooden church is being restored

In the village of Bukivtskovo (Velyky Berezny district, Transcarpathian region), the repairs in the wooden church of St. Anne built in 1792 continue. For several decades the church, has not been properly taken care of, some shingles (chopped wood planks that cover the roof) got cracked, roof timbers beneath them began to rot, causing roof leaks, threatening to destroy the unique building.

– As of now, the workers have replaced the rotten roof timbers and put new shingles – H. Moskal said. – Now, they are repairing the domes, which are also under a threat of destruction. All parts are made identically, without using any new materials in order not to distort the historical value of this beautiful church. St Anne’s Church is one of the most beautiful churches in Velyky Berezny district (and beyond), therefore we will do everything to prevent its destruction.
