The operator reported about triggering of the telephone cable alarm at the station Uzhgorod-3. The investigative team arrived at the scene and found unknown persons who were stealing a telephone cable.
On examination of the scene and the surrounding area, the police officers found near the non-working post, the absence of 40 meters of cable.
Law enforcement officers arrested two men born in 1982 and 1973, residents of Uzhgorod district. The detainees told that they planned to burn the cable into the oven to clean the copper from the sheath and sell it for scrap metal.
Currently, the telephone connection has been restored.
The criminal proceedings over this incident has been initiated under Part 2 of Art.185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Theft committed by a group of persons."
