December 21 in honor of the "doomsday" in Uzhgorod a new kind of tourism – "stalker-tourism" – was presented. Fans of Strugatsky writers or computer game of the same name immediately understand from the title what it means – it is the industrial extreme tourism in old abandoned buildings – catacombs, sewers, military facilities, etc. For example, in Ukraine the industrial tourism in Chernobyl zone is very popular.
In Uzhgorod the stalker-tour started from gigantic basements of Economics Department of UzhNU. It was prepared by the second year student of the department of tourism Emilia Dakov. Students approached the debut creatively and tried to arrange basements in rather bleak, post-apocalyptic manner. At the start of the "underground" journey, the participants were offered to pass a small quest to get the permission to go. Everyone had to drink "antiradin" (in fact – juice with the label "Antiradin"), receive a flashlight and a map of the basements.
Inside of the building they set stands with photos of the best facilities for industrial tourism in Transcarpathia, in Ukraine and abroad. To keep participants of the excursion excited, they were scared by a mysterious man in a protective cloak and mask, and a long-haired blonde with tied hands. In addition, in one of the rooms there is an art gallery with paintings on the theme of apocalypse.
In general, although the tour was not too long (after all, the premises are not that large), the participants were satisfied. In general, over the years, industrial tourism is becoming more popular in the world. Now it has been officially introduced in Transcarpathia. And today in these premises there will be the first tournament of petanque. Thus the basement of the building aspires to the title of one of the most original venues for this game.
