In Uzhgorod, there was a meeting with the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bacskai

On Monday, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Ivan Baloha had an official meeting with the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bacskai. The event was also attended by the manager of the executive office of the Regional Council Mykhailo Popovich and the refional council deputy Volodymyr Chubirko. They discussed the development of bilateral cooperation and the socio-political situation in the region.

         Ivan Baloha informed that the regional deputies had adopted the budget of Transcarpathia for 2014 and established the parliamentary group "People’s Council of Transcarpathia" composed of the representatives of three factions, which primarily supports the European integration path of development. Also, the chairman of the regional council announced that an extraordinary session held last week allowed "to remove the tension, the police left the building of the regional council, normal work of the authorities was restored."   

         In turn, Jozsef Bacskai noted that Transcarpathian Regional Council was an example of a tolerant solution to problematic situations. "The deputies were able to adopt the budget, ensuring stable operation of budgetary field in the region. This will promote further implementation of joint projects under the agreement of the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, signed last year", – the diplomat said. Jozsef Bacskai also noted that Hungary supports the peaceful settlement of the conflict situation in Ukraine. Also he assured representatives of the local government of Transcarpathia that cross-border cooperation would develop further. The evidence of this is the fact that Hungary is considering building new checkpoints on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border.
