In Uzhgorod there was a leakage of ammonia. The cause of the leak is an out-dated fridge

November 16 at 18:05 the rescue service of Transcarpathia received the information that in the regional center on the fourth floor of the apartment building on Stantsiyna st. a strong smell of an unknown substance is felt. 

Uzhgorod rescuers were sent to the place of call. As it turned out, the unknown substance was ammonia that leaked from an old refrigerator that was standing on the stairs.

 Officers of MOE wearing special respiratory an eye protection devices, took the fridge out to a safe place. The place of ammonia spill was washed with water, as this substance is readily soluble in water, and treated with a special solution. 

Due to small number of the chemical, the health of the tenants is not in danger. Detailed circumstances are being investigated by competent services – infromed TD of MOE in Transcarpathian region.
