In Uzhgorod, police officers arrested a husband and a wife, who were stealing manhole covers from sewage wells.The police seized the stolen property and are checking the spouses for involvement in other similar crimes

Today, September 5, the police received a report that on Lehotsky street in the regional center, two unknown persons were removing a metal manhole cover near the apartment building. 
The police quickly detained the suspects. The thieves were residents of Uzhgorod district: a 36-year-old man and his 31-year-old wife. As the investigators found out, the couple were driving around the streets of Uzhgorod, removing manhole covers and grates and loading them into their car for subsequent sale. 
The evidence was seized by law enforcement officers. The spouses are charged with a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Theft). Investigators are currently checking the detainees for involvement in a number of other similar crimes.
